Perinatal and Orientation Education Program (POEP) is highly effective in providing evidence-based, clinical education to onboard your perinatal nurses. This program addresses the dynamic requirements of perinatal nurses, offering them essential evidence-based resources and helpful tools for optimal performance in their roles.

There is a 3-attempt maximum to pass each of the program modules or the learner will not complete the module or earn the associated credit.

49 Nursing contact hours are available through June 2, 2027.  An overall completion certificate for the POEP program is not provided. The learner receives (1) completion certificate and (1) CNE certificate (if applicable) for each module. If learner completes the program, a total of (16) completion certificates and (16) CNE certificates (if applicable) are available to print.

The Participant Manual is a guide to instruct participants on how to use the POEP24 program.
The purpose of this module is to provide an overview of the principles of patient safety, risk management, perinatal liability, and respectful maternity care.
The purpose of this module is to review the reproductive system, issues with fertility, embryonic and fetal development, physiologic changes and psychosocial adaptation, and prenatal assessment and screenings.
The purpose of this module is to describe the factors affecting labor, labor and fetal assessments, stages of labor, and labor support.
The purpose of this module is to provide an overview of the potential complications with labor and birth.
The purpose of this module is to provide an overview of cesarean birth, review the concepts of anesthesia, supply a summary of preoperative, intraoperative care and enhanced recovery after surgery in obstetrics, examine the principles of sterile techniques and infection prevention, and give an outline of post anesthesia care (routine and complications) for patients after a cesarean birth.
The purpose of this module is to provide an overview of sexually transmitted infections and perinatal infections that can occur during pregnancy, as well as the related newborn outcomes that result if these infections are left untreated.
The purpose of this module is to provide an overview of potential antepartum complications, including preterm labor and birth, multiple gestation, bleeding, hypertensive disorders, and trauma.
The purpose of this module is to provide an overview of potential system related complications of pregnancy including, cardiac disease, hematologic, respiratory, endocrine, gastrointestinal and hepatic disorders.
The purpose of this module is to review the postpartum physiology, the postpartum assessment and care of a patient who had a vaginal birth, the postpartum assessment and care of a patient who had a cesarean birth, the adaptation to parenthood, and the discharge process.
The purpose of this module is to provide an overview of postpartum complications such as postpartum hemorrhage, disseminated intravascular coagulopathy (DIC), postpartum infections, thromboembolic disorders, genital tract/pelvic floor concerns, hypertensive disorders in the postpartum period and postpartum mood and anxiety disorders.
The purpose of this module is to provide an overview of preparing for birth, newborn transition to extrauterine life, thermoregulation, and transitional complications.
The purpose of this module is to provide an overview of newborn assessment, routine newborn care, and newborn discharge.
The purpose of this module is to provide an overview of breastfeeding, review milk expression information, discuss breastfeeding challenges, breastfeeding assessment, and discuss supplementation.
The purpose of this module is to provide an overview of newborn clinical deterioration including respiratory disorders, congenital heart defects, and sepsis.
The purpose of this module is to provide an overview of growth and maturational issues, newborn hypoglycemia, hyperbilirubinemia, and newborns with substance exposure.
The purpose of this module is to provide an overview of perinatal nursing and loss, discuss the meaning of bereavement, grief, and mourning, examine the cultural and spiritual aspects of loss, assess parental grief, support the care of bereaved families, and provide strategies for caring for the caregiver.
